Strategic Expansion and Steadfast Support for Global Supply Chains

Coastal Pacific Food Distributors, Inc. (CPFD) a California-based logistics powerhouse, continues to strengthen its role as a leading global provider of food and supply chain solutions. Founded in 1986 and headquartered in Stockton, CA., CPFD has grown from a regional military supplier into the second-largest worldwide distributor of food and related products to U.S. military installations.

Today, CPFD’s reach spans the Western United States, Alaska, Hawaii, Guam, Japan, Okinawa, Korea, Singapore, Kwajalein, the Philippines, and the Indian Ocean—underscoring the company’s mission to deliver dependable, tailored logistics support to one of the most complex and geographically dispersed customer bases in the world.

Expansion in Puyallup: Scaling to Meet Growing Demand

In a move to enhance its cold chain infrastructure, CPFD recently completed a significant expansion of its Puyallup, Washington freezer facility. The building, previously 19,000 square feet, was expanded to 64,000 square feet—more than tripling its capacity. This development reflects CPFD’s proactive strategy to meet rising demand for temperature-sensitive food distribution, especially among military, 3PL, and commercial clients throughout the Pacific Northwest and Asia-Pacific regions.

Strategically located near key ports and transit corridors, the Puyallup facility plays a pivotal role in CPFD’s cold storage network. With the expansion, the company is now better positioned to manage increased volumes while maintaining the quality and safety standards essential to perishable goods logistics.

Trusted Military Logistics Partner

A cornerstone of CPFD’s business is its service to the U.S. military and government agencies. The company has been awarded a series of high-profile contracts, including a $32.6 million agreement to supply fresh fruits and vegetables to commissaries across Japan and a separate $8.9 million contract for deli, bakery, and sushi services at commissaries in Japan, South Korea, and Guam.

These contracts not only demonstrate CPFD’s operational excellence but also its ability to fulfill complex, multinational logistics requirements on a consistent basis.

CPFD Congratulates DeCA on their 25th Anniversary

CPFD Congratulates DeCA on their 25th Anniversary

Hard to believe, but the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) will celebrate their 25th anniversary later this year.  Formed by consolidating the Armed Services’ four separate commissary systems, DeCA officially took command and control October 1, 1991.  The new Defense Agency was tasked with reducing appropriated funding requirements, standardizing and improving operations while preserving the commissaries as a relevant, valued benefit. No question that by any measurement, DeCA has and continues to excel in delivering the savings and service Military families have earned and most definitely deserve.
